artist statement

Rosario´s art revolves around the crossing points between Urban Topics, Human Being and Nature. She is inspired by her photograph Archive that she constantly feeds with material from her travels and experiences.  “My art development is a process of experimentation and personal questioning facing a world in constant transformation and in which the ephemeral predominates.”

The starting point of her artistic process is the Deconstruction and Re-construction, particularly recycled materials and appropriated objects. In life’s leftovers she sees value, beauty, and untold stories. The silence of a discarded object calls her to become an “archaeologist”, to discover, amplify and interpret the traces and marks left by time.

The writings of Japanese author Janichirō Tanizaki, particularly his work “In Praise of Shadows” where he explores the differences between western and eastern perspectives on the meaning of light and darkness, have strongly influenced her work. She see values and beauty in shades, shadows, and personal hidden stories.
